Curb Appeal Project

One of the neat incentives to being a member of the Friends of Bellevue is that you can make application to participate in our annual "Curb Appeal Project".  By doing so a member can avail themselves to a $250.00 matching grant to assist in improving the facade of their home.

This year fellow Friends Joe and Cathy Hurley were chosen to take their "remudeled" home at 234 Van Voast Avenue and to restore it to its original 1920's vintage look.

The following photos show how their hard work, coupled with the assistance from the Friends of Bellevue, resulted in not only an attractive home but as well a more stable neighborhood.

Before the work started, the Hurley home had a drab appearance.  The 1970's era aluminum siding, storm windows and doors along with a monochromatic paint job robbed the home of its true architectural beauty.

By removing the "plain Jane" siding from the gable and exposing the beautiful three over one windows that were hidden under cheap storm windows, and by adding a contrasting paint application, the Hurleys have once again brought prominence to their home.

After many months of painstaking paint removal from the front entry way, and with the addition of a custom made storm door, the homeowners have once again made their front door inviting to the passerby.

The Friends of Bellevue salute our fellow Friends Joe and Cathy Hurley for an exceptional job!  We are truly proud to have been a part of this endeavor to bring back to life a home that once again makes a visit to this neighborhood enjoyable.

(Also note that the home to the left of 234 Van Voast has an improved appearance showing that a little investment in your own home sparks others to follow.)

If you think you could benefit from the assistance offered by FOB's "Curb Appeal Project" consider joining Friends of Bellevue and you could be selected as next year's grant recipient.  It's easy to join FOB:  Click on the Membership button above and complete the online membership form.  Entries for the 2005 "Curb Appeal Project" grant must be received by email to info@FriendsOfBellevueKY.org by June 30, 2005.
